Why Sigma Chi?

Sigma Chi is a brotherhood with roots in the collegiate experience that engenders a lifelong commitment to strive to achieve true friendship, equal justice and the fulfillment of learning as part of our overall responsibilities to the broader communities in which we live. The Iota Lambda Chapter of Sigma Chi excels in many areas including academics, brotherhood, intramural sports, service, and campus involvement. We strive to recruit men who will play an active role in helping our chapter and community improve even further while continuing to better themselves along the way.

“I’m Nate Jarboe, the current Consul of Sigma Chi here at the University of Louisville. I'm a junior studying biology on a pre-med track. I hope to one day become a surgeon, and I'm currently studying for the MCAT.

I didn't think l'd rush when I came to college. I had the stereotypical view that fraternities were all about partying and drinking, and I thought that would distract from my ultimate goal of one day going into medicine. However, on one of my shadowing visits to UofL I had the pleasure of meeting some Sigma Chis. They were exceedingly friendly to me, and they explained what their fraternity was all about. It wasn’t what I had pictured. They told me about how each year they performed the most service hours out of any RSO on campus, even the ones dedicated to service. They told me how they annually raised the most money for philanthropy on campus, routinely won intramural sports, and had some of the top grades on campus. I was introduced to their alumni network and to the career help and resources at the disposal of every Sigma Chi brother, no matter his future path. On top of all that, they had a ton of fun too. It seemed to me like the Sigma Chis at UofL were true renaissance men, and I couldn’t sign up fast enough. I decided to rush Sigma Chi, and it's turned out to be one of the best decisions l've made in my life. I've made some of my best friends and I’ve had countless opportunities come from my time in Sigma Chi. I've become involved in RaiseRED, UofL's pre-med alumni, The Men of PEACC, led many service initiatives as our previous service chair for three semesters, and much more. I’ve fallen in love with the ritual and the aspects of Sigma Chi that truly form better men. I’ve also had the most fun I’ve ever had in my life. I’m beyond proud to call myself a brother of Sigma Chi, and I’m proud of the great things my brothers and I accomplish for our community here, and that I know we will continue to accomplish.”

Carter Bunch

“Whats up guys I’m Carter Bunch. I’m a junior Political Science major from Louisville and I’m currently studying for the LSAT.

I was on the fence about rushing when I came into college, but it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Sigma Chi has provided countless opportunities for me to get involved on and off campus, create lasting friendships, and improve myself as an individual. I am the current Pro-Consul and have been involved with raiseRED staff.

Outside of school, I wrestled my freshman year and watch a lot of UFC. I also like sitting on the porch with my roommates, golfing, and attending sporting events. If you have any questions reach out to me @carter_bunch_

“Going into my fall semester of freshman year, I knew I wanted to be involved with a well-rounded group of individuals. It was when I first came to a Sigma Chi event that I knew I was at home. That was just the beginning. Sigma Chi has given me a unique opportunity to both thrive in Greek Life but also push me to stay involved in many different organizations. From service cleaning projects to study nights and dance marathons, I have grown to love working and learning through service, brotherhood, academics, and philanthropy. I have and will continue to tremendously develop as a man, a friend, and a son thanks to Sigma Chi.”
